I cannot think of a better way to welcome in a new year of music at Holy Trinity than by listening to beautiful choral harmonies interspersed with stunning solo performances. There were many highlights to today’s programme, including the poignant sadness and illusive message of hope in Mendelssohn’s ‘Passage Bird’s Farewell’ sung for us by Ann Dent and Richard Dewland, closely followed by a burst of energy from the whole choir singing Chilcott’s ‘Wenceslas’; I loved every moment of this, but especially the inspiring words in the final movement: ‘Thank You’, and finally a memorable finale with Vivaldi’s ‘Gloria in Excelsis Deo’. We thanked each member of the Choir for their wonderful performance today, with special thanks to soloists: Jenny Dominey, Eric Cooke, Andrew Cleary, Ann Dent, Richard Dewland, Ruth Dewland and Brigette; and special mention of the impressive versatility of Andrew Cleary and Richard Dewland. Needless to say, we have invited them to return in 2021 . . .

Please note that Holy Trinity Church, Gosport, is now closed for redecoration and our tea-time concerts will resume on Sunday 1st March with Nigel Willoughby and Teresa Foster, violin and piano. I look forward to seeing you there!
