It is with great pleasure (and relief) that I am able to finally announce the appointment of our new Team Vicar, with responsibility for Holy Trinity.

Bishop Rob and the Team Rector, Alex Wood, are pleased to announce the appointment of The Revd Godfrey Chigumira to serve as Team Vicar in the Gosport South Team Ministry. Godfrey has been appointed, subject to the usual checks and formalities, following interviews and with the support of the lay parish representatives. Rev’d Chigumira will work with Rev’d Alex Wood, Rev’d Ray Driscoll and the ministry team, and will have a particular responsibility for ministry at Holy Trinity. A date for the licensing of Rev’d Chigumira will be announced soon.

Fr Godfrey is at present the vicar of St Cystennin Church in Mochdre Llangystennin (sometimes spelt Llangwstennin) a rural parish to the south-east of Llandudno and Llanrhos in Conwy County Borough, North Wales.

Fr. Godfrey was originally ordained into the Roman Catholic Church in the Diocese of Harare the capital of Zimbabwe in 1999. He is Catholic by tradition, was born within a’practising’Catholic family and grew up in a Catholic Church whose way of worship was traditionally Catholic. He is married to Melisa and they have a 3 year old daughter Angela.

He is very much looking forward to having a new congregation and a new ministry close to the harbour.

I know that you will make Fr Godfrey and his family very welcome when they move here. We have waited a long time for our new incumbent, our prayers have been answered and it will be good to move on and start a new chapter in the life of Holy Trinity.

Please hold Fr Godfrey, Melisa and Angela in your prayers, especially his congregation that are losing their much loved priest.

Chrissie, Churchwarden
